GRACE: Beyond God’s unmerited favour

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright…..
Titus 2:11-15 NIV

The usual answers we receive and the general definition of GRACE is unmerited favour. That could make sense when we talk about the Grace of men! A whole lots of differences appears when we talk about God’s Grace! God’s grace is not just an action but a person! Grace came as a person, Jesus! Understanding Grace this way will lead us into to a deeper understanding of GRACE!

I don’t know how others sees it! I also see it as an enablement! I don’t believe preaching Grace means preaching only God’s unmerited favour! I believe it goes far beyond that…. I see Grace personified in Jesus. So when I preach Grace, I preach the totality of Jesus. I have nothing else to teach or preach! Because each part of the bible I turn to, all I see is Grace!

I heard a very popular preacher that I respect so much say “Grace alone destroys a nation”! I believed he meant something else, I did not want to criticise him literally… But many believers have used that exact statement to fight the very message of GRACE not knowing they are fighting Jesus!

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave him self for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.  These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Titus 2:11-15 NIV

1. The Grace of God offers salvation.
2. It teaches us to say “NO” to ungodliness and wordily pains
3. It teaches us to be self controlled, upright and godly while we wait for the blessed hope

Therefore this is what we should teach about Grace
1. Encourage
2. Rebuke

How then can this Grace destroy a nation when you preach it alone! Many of us are one sided on the issue of GRACE! Grace is an encourager and a Rebuker! But it is not a despiser! The LAW is a despiser! This is why I am not part of the recent attack I see people make on Grace! I hear people say that Grace alone can destroy a nation….. That is lies! Grace is the only solution for the dying nation!

Over the years, people have been hearing different kinds of messages! Have that helped the nation in any way? NO! Because we teach people morals but we don’t introduce them to the power that enables them and works in them! Someone told me that the message of GRACE destroyed America! How true is that? I replied him by telling him that it is that grace that have produced authentic Christians over there! There are still very strong believers whose stand in Christ cannot be compromised! They are products of GRACE!
