Do you really think that nothing good can come out of you? Do you feel that nothing good can happen in your country? Do you feel your neighbour can never achieve something great? Let’s see if it is true!
“Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” – John 1:45-46 WEB
In our countries, there are places we believe something good can never come out it, there are people we often neglect thinking that nothing good can come out of them! It is the same skepticism that Nathaniel suffered from that is afflicting many people today. Notwithstanding, he came to the Lord and gave him a chance to prove if he was who he said he was.
If something great came out of Nazareth, it can come out of the worst nations of the world or the worst person in your family. Nazareth met Jesus and its history changed, anyone or any community that meets Jesus cannot remain the same.
Nevertheless, Jesus didn’t reprimand Nathaniel for his doubts, instead he made away with the doubts. You may believe in the doom of someone, you may doubt the future of a country or even yourself but Jesus has an answer to every doubt we can ever entertain. We need to always be plain before the Lord as Nathaniel was. When we suffer from skepticism, we have to run to Jesus to find answers. When we run from him because of doubts, then we may as well be running from solutions.
Jesus knows how we were made, he was there when we were formed, he was the word that proceeded from God’s mouth! He knows our weaknesses and is indeed our strength.
“He certainly knows what we are made of. He bears in mind that we are dust.” – Psalms 103:14 GW
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” – Psalm 28:7
When we have doubts, it doesn’t mean we have sinned, it simply become sin when we harbour those doubts and let it have control over us. Just as Nathaniel did, we have to bring our doubts to the feet of the Lord. He has all the answers.
PRAYERS: Lord, I pour out all my doubts to you. (Tell Him about it) Just as you made proved yourself to Nathaniel, do so in my life. Just as you changed the story of Nazareth, do so in my life and in my country. Amen!
