THE BEAUTY OF MARRIAGE (Part One)

The Concept of Marriage

Beyond the transverse definitions credited to the sacred union called marriage, beyond the diverse delineations of marriage and systematic concepts surrounding what is called marriage, I beg to decipher marriage from the most current and well proven source called “Bible”. I crave your attention no matter how deep this article might pose to be. The real intent of this presentation is to declaim the cheer superfluous activities, expenditures and many other things surrounding the advent of marriage. Therefore, my next paragraphs will not only be repostioned to simplicity in communication but also accuracy in definitions so that even the commonest of the common man can strongly hold on to the insights contained therein.

Throughout my educative era in the primary and secondary school level, marriage have maintained one definition (at least, morally speaking), the relationship between a husband and a wife. The addition of “…also between people of same sex” in most dictionaries is only but a deviation from the original meaning and concept of marriage so as to please some certain kinds of dis-oriented people. What actually brought about marriage? Let’s face it now:

“Then God said “let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness… God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:26-27

In the first instance of human-creation, God made a human spirit. The human creation account narrated in the first chapter of Genesis is not the same with that of the second chapter because the both of them are different events. The human spirit of male and female was together from the point of the first account of creation. People often think that the first union was when God brought Eve to Adam but that is far from the truth. The first union was a spiritual union even before the formation of man. The first man consisted of the male and the female with one identity “”ADAM”, God did not call the woman “Eve”, both the man and woman was named “ADAM” by God.

“male and female created he them, blessed them and called their name Adam, in the day that created them” Genesis 5:2

This is a huge revelation! From the day of human-creation in Chapter one, God called the both of them “Adam”. Genesis 5:2 is trying to explain that the original concept of creation was 2 in 1 man, male and female as one. Adam in God’s own definition was not the name of male humans but the name of the male and female. So, we are safe to say that marriage pre-existed the physical manifestation of man. Remember that we saw earlier, the first account of creation was the creation of the human-spirit. Lets go a bit further

“The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being” Genesis 2:7

You can note that in the first account, God MADE man in His own image and in the second account God FORMED man with soil. The first account is the spiritual manifestation of God’s creation and it is in the spirit-sense that we are like God but the second account is the physical manifestation of God’s creation and we may not in the physical-sense be the typical description of God because God is indescribable. The man was united with the woman from the beginning even though the man did not recognised it. Woman was not created on a different date like mostly preached, woman and man was created on the same date. But the woman was taken out of man later.

In the next presentation titled BEFORE MARRIAGE“, we will be moving in a broader perspective of marriage.
