We were all designed differently!
There often come a moment in our lives when we so much wish we can take the place of someone else, when we wish we can do exactly what another person is doing; probably because of how popular such people have become and how respected that have seem to be as a result of what they do. There have been times in my life when I wish I am other people I admire! I have come to learn that God purposely designed us differently for a difference.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Some were designed to be beautiful in outward appearance; some were designed to really look unattractive in the outward sense. Not because God is wicked, but because God know how best He to use what he deposited in us!
Some become preachers, some become doctors, some become lawyers, some become writers, and some become musicians and many more… God designed us differently so that we can function in different spheres of life for one purpose!
Therefore, it will be wrong to become a Pastor when you are not called to be a Pastor, to become a lawyer when you are not called to be a lawyer, to become a musician when you’re not called to be a musician! Why is it wrong? Because you are operating in an office that limits your potentials or that forces you to do things above you!
To some, God has given one talent, to some he gave three, to some He gave five and all counting… He gave some beauty, He gave some knowledge, He gave some skills, and He gave some foresight! No one has it all!
“For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” (Matthew 25:29)
You must not dream to become anybody, you should be yourself! When you discover your calling, you have discovered your best! Never envy the man with hundred talents, never envy the musician and writer, never envy the Pastor who commands millions of congregations… Be busy with the little you have. When you get jealous of those who have much more, the little you have become valueless to you! Build the little you have and you may eventually become greater than them! Mind you! You may not necessarily become greater than them because you may not possess the strength they possess! Just do great things with your little.
You need to understand that heaven recognizes not just the preacher healing the sick and raising the death, He also recognizes the people on the grass, the people sitting at the pew! It came to a point where the Almighty Jesus needed few fishes and loaves of bread… He can do miracles but He needed those little offering for a bigger miracle to be made! The Disciples wouldn’t provide it; the big names wouldn’t provide it! It was just a little boy whose name is not even worthy to be known, who was among the noise makers and players in the children church, who was among those sitting at the grass and perhaps wondering
“Oh! Ho I wish I am Peter so that Jesus can call me!”
It was that little boy that brought the little he had! Maybe… That single action was the purpose of his making! He fulfilled his purpose! He never raised the dead; he never healed the sick but if there was no him, the people who have died in hunger! The little boy with his little offering saved more than 10,000 (men, women and children) people from dying of hunger!
9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. (John 6)
This unknown boy has registered himself positively in the scriptures! If his name was known, I am sure he would be canonized a saint in the Orthodox Churches.
We are all made differently, until you discover who you are… You may just be occupying a space on earth! Be you, you’re the best!
Your Brother and Friend,
