Many times, people have asked me questions concerning a dream they had, a vision they saw, a revelation they got and the answers I give them is that God’s word remains the final.
God is not a talkative but God is talking all the time! Yes… He has spoken a long time ago but the resonance of His word is still lingering among us today via the scriptures as inspired by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, you don’t need to hear any extra voice, dream extra dreams before you are convinced about what the scripture says. No matter what the Prophets told you, no matter what you saw in your dream, no matter which angel came down from heaven to tell you something different, if it is not biblical, it is not from God!
The Bible was clear on that. Look at these verses of the Scriptures and know that you don’t need to believe some of your dreams and sayings of the Prophets when it contradicts who the word of God say you are and what the word of God has said concerning every situation. See Jeremiah 23:28:
“Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the LORD”
The Prophets may dream and explain their dreams, but God’s word stands sure and must be declared faithfully! That means, the faithfulness towards God’s word must override that of dreams, dreams must not take the place of God’s word. When you dream of the devil conquering you while God’s word said you are victorious, all you need is to proclaim God’s word and forget the dream. The Bible said in 1 Corinthians 14:33:
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
God doesn’t author confusion, neither is he confused by the devil’s schemes. This means every revelation must be weighed with God’s word! No matter where the revelation comes from, whether from the Bishop or from the General Overseer, if it opposes God’s word, it is from the pit of hell! No wonder John instructs that we test every Spirit, let’s hear him.
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world” 1 John 4:1
In 2 Chronicles 18:21, we see an evil Spirit declare that he is going to possess God’s Prophets and not Prophets of Baal so that they become liars even without their knowing.
“And the spirit replied, ‘I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.”
A careful study of that place does not suggest that it was an Angel but a bad Spirit just like the bad Spirit (Satan) who also presented himself in the time of Job; God only permitted this evil Spirit to do so because He wanted to use it for a purpose. These Prophets were not bad Prophets and yet they couldn’t discern what message they were preaching. Only one Prophet who could discern the Spirits knew that it wasn’t from God. Paul acknowledged that Satan can outwit us when we are ignorant of his schemes. Look at David, David never knew it was the Devil who inspired him to go against God’s will and number the people of Israel in 1 Chronicles 21:1,2
“And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel…”
Today, many Christians are making those mistakes too. People base their prayer points on human revelations, they base their relationship on human words as inspired by the devil and therefore you see them fulfilling the plans of Satan rather than fulfilling the plans of God. When a thousands of Christians assemble to shout fire on the devil they are glorifying him instead of glorifying God because they are telling people that the devil is really a thorn in their flesh but no! We are the thorn in devil’s flesh! We shouldn’t be defending ourselves from the devil, it is us who are fighting offensive battle, and we are the people who should be advancing into the devil’s territory… The Church shouldn’t stand at the gate defending; they should be marching on… Forward ever! The Bible says
“And light shines in darkness and darkness comprehends it not” 1 John 1:5
It is not darkness that is shining into the light, it is not darkness that is looking for our trouble, we should be the people advancing into darkness and it cannot stop us! However, today, many Christians are simply defending themselves by shouting fire and thunder on the devil instead of forcefully advancing! By so doing, the devil is been glorified and his power is being magnified! Let me show you what the devil does, in order to defend himself and his kingdom, he blinds the eyes of the unbelievers
“In whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4
However, darkness cannot comprehend this light! The dangers of magnifying Satan is that his own will is been fulfilled by some persons instead of God’s will. Someone will argue “but we hate Satan and that’s why we pray against him”. Praying against Satan isn’t a bad idea but when it replaces your Christian duty, Satan is winning and your prayer isn’t working. Satan himself often poses as an Angel of Light and he confuses believers through dreams and visions and even ministers. The Bible says thus in 2 Corinthians 11:14
“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
God has therefore supplied us with His Holy Spirit. Through the spirit we can live victoriously instead of waste time dwelling on the devil and allowing him to take our precious time with God. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
You don’t need to fear those bad dreams no matter how terrible and convincing they seem to be, you only need to believe God’s word. When you put the word in your mind, you are no longer enslaved by the snares of the enemy because even your mind is sound! With that spirit we are powerful, lovely and sound in mind! God’s primary way of communicating to us today is not through dreams or Prophets. These are still relevant today but when it stands before God’s word it is irrelevant! God communicates to us through His Spirit by His word. Look at this,
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” John 14:26
The Holy Spirit will not tell you new things, the bible didn’t say that. He will teach you all things. This means he will teach you from something and what is that? From the context of Paul’s writing we can understand with much clarity the medium through which the Holy Spirit will teach us. It is through God’s word as embedded in the Scriptures and nothing outside that. He said the Holy Spirit will put to our remembrance all that “he” said to us. Now, Paul didn’t talk to us but rather he wrote to us. For you to be reminded of something you will first of all come across it. Our lives must be based on God’s word and his word is final.
What then is our weapon of warfare for fighting the kingdom of darkness? It is God’s word. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:4
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”
