GOD… Alpha and Omega?

This morning, I came across this popular portion of the scripture and God opened up my eyes to understand it much more

Rev. 22:13  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

You see… God is the beginner and the finisher! You can’t finish what God has started, you can’t try finishing it or even make it half done! God started the Old Testament and He ended it by Himself through Jesus. The moment Jesus said ” it is finished” the era of the law was brought to an end and another prophecy was fulfilled! What was that prophecy?

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:1
9

We saw Jesus boldly declare that He is the way!
What am I saying? If God begins something, we are not the ones to bring it to an end, we just have to trust, obey and follow. Many are still finding it difficult today to live a victorious life but its because they’ve not acknowledged the role of God as the beginner and finisher. They feel they need to do something in order to be saved but they don’t know that the reason they should do something is because they are saved already! Many are struggling to accept the message of God’s grace because they feel its not likely that someone can just get all the good things without working for it.
God will not want us to take credit of what He has done, He wants to remain God and will not want us to contribute in making His works perfect! He is already perfect without flaws! His decisions are perfect and we cannot advice Him to do otherwise! God simply want us to accept what He has done and continue in what He has done. We can’t question why He did something and then do another. He is unquestionably God.
Paul saw the Galatians making that mistake and he cautioned them furiously. Hear him

“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?… How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?” Galatians 3:1-3

The Galatians wanted to complete their own salvation by piously believing that if they do certain things they will buy their salvation from God! They thought they were going to ‘wow’ God with their good deeds. They failed to remember that even our self-righteousness is like a filthy rag. Don’t try being good so that you can be accepted by God. Be good because you have been accepted! God accepts you the way you are but He wants to improve you by Himself and that’s why He made His spirit available in us. The days of the laws of the Old testament is over and ended! We now have the word of God inscribed in our hearts.
Remember….

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6

He is the beginner and the finisher… We are just the believers!

Stay blessed.
