Now, we have clearly seen that Jesus coming and suffering satisfied the law, ensured our healing and ensured our authority over principalities and powers. We saw clearly, that Jesus also died specifically to do away with the old nature of man so that sin cannot win over man anymore. That is to say, Jesus finished the work of salvation the moment he died with the Adamic nature. If Jesus did not die, the work of salvation wouldn’t be complete. We also saw that by His death, Jesus went down to Hades and not Hell, we also saw how salvation was brought to even those who died in disobedience before the coming of Jesus. Now if all these were achieved by Just His suffering and death, why does He have to resurrect?

If Jesus didn’t resurrect, His death would have nullified all His claims to be the son of God, the savior of mankind and the hope of sinners. But by His resurrection, He proved that everything done even before His death were true. He proved beyond reasonable and even unreasonable doubt that He is who He says He is. His resurrection is more reason why we can stand and testify that we are saved.

The resurrection of Jesus meant a new beginning, it signified new creation and new identity. His Resurrection is for our empowerment because by the Holy Spirit He gave us, we can do exceeding things that man could not do with mere strength. His resurrection assured us that we cannot die anymore, His resurrection showed us what He meant about eternal life.

The resurrection of Jesus clearly portrayed His total victory over sin and death! Death could not hold Him down, He decided to die and decided to resurrect by the power of the Holy Spirit. The resurrection of Jesus was very important because by presenting Himself to God as perfect, He was presenting us to God. The Bible says that God has planned it earlier that we will be blameless and perfect (Ephesians 1:3-6). Everything that happened was God’s way of fulfilling His plans. We were predestined from the very beginning to  be perfect. When Jesus met Mary after resurrection, He said to her in John 20:17

“Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

Why would Jesus say that? He was meaning to tell Mary that they shouldn’t hope He stays physically on earth because He has to ascend to God. To present Himself. And by presenting Himself as perfect and blameless, He is presenting us too! That is why He clearly said “my Father and your father, my God and your God”. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:22-23

“For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ the first fruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him.”

Now, by the death of Jesus, our old nature all died and Christ has been presented to God as the first fruit. By presenting Himself to God, He presented us together with Himself. Our identity is lost in Him. Therefore, Jesus resurrected for us to have an identity.

1 Corinthians 15:20, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”

Concerning our identity, Paul also wrote in 1 Corinthians 3:23

“and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God”

The resurrection of Jesus brought about our enthronement. We now have the identity of Jesus, we are now Jesus in God’s sight and Jesus is God in our sight. This is how God has chosen to unite us to Himself. We now sit in the seat of Jesus and we reign with Him in the heavenly places. By the resurrection of Jesus, we have become kings not on earth  but in heaven. See what the Bible has to say

“…made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.…” Ephesians 2:5-7

Finally, Jesus resurrection and ascension has made Him our advocate. That is to say, even when you do something very wrong, He is the one that speaks on your behalf. By His ascension which wouldn’t have been possible if He didn’t resurrect, Jesus is ever present to speak for us… The devil has no chance.

“But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father — Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours alone, but also for the sins of the whole world.…” 1 John 2:1-2

Now, I believe this very great series have opened your eyes wider to the great love that God has for us. I believe this article will also inspire you to understand that people are not to be rejected no matter what they have done. By understanding some levels of the depth of God’s love for mankind, you will only be forced to discover that since God is not happy when a sinner perishes, He will not be happy too if all you do is sit back, point fingers and on them and never reach out to them with the great love of our Lord.

In this article, we have learned that even before Jesus died, God has been merciful. The death of Jesus was to set us free from the power of sin and make us better persons! His death was also to showcase God’s unfailing love for mankind. Now, we see why God allowed so many people to die in the Old Testament over their sins and we see the remarkable plan God made for them because they too needed to experience Jesus.

We also saw how God’s resurrection has put us in God’s presence forever. Now, we can come to the throne of Grace with boldness and obtain mercy.

Hope you are blessed? Be a blessing to someone today by reaching out to him or her with God’s love.
