“… Am telling you why

Santa Claus is coming to town”

That is what we hear every Christmas.

One dreaded mistake lots of believers are making is given Santa Claus more relevance on 25th December than Jesus! No matter what Santa Claus signifies, it shouldn’t be given a place more significant than the reason of Christmas. Ask any little Child, they see Christmas as a day of Santa Claus. I don’t care the story behind Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas…

I will never take my Children to Santa Claus… They will be taken to Jesus! My home, my office and my firms will not be painted with the image of Santa Claus but with words that shows the reason for the season! The Church must wake up and speak against these things or people with different opinion on Christmas becomes right about their views on Christmas.

Santa Claus is coming to town? Oh! Sorry… He’s not welcomed to my house. He can come on January 25th, on my Birthday… I will welcome him and entertain him but not on Christmas of all days! Churches are bringing in Santa Claus into their fields and buildings, children are made to believe he is the FATHER OF CHRISTMAS. In some part of Africa, Santa Claus is called “Father Christmas”… What does that mean to you? If it doesn’t give you concern, it gives me much concern.

I don’t care who gets angry but we are just giving Santa Claus too much place and wee even make young ones forget about Jesus and talk about Santa Claus. Any movie that features Santa is called “Christmas Movie” but when it is about the gospel, the coming of Jesus, we just call it “Bible film”.

Again, its alarming how the word “Yuletide” is being revived as to reflect Christmas day Yuletide (“Yule time”) is a festival observed by the historical Germanic peoples. A celebration of the god Odin, and the pagan Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht. It later underwent Christianised reformulation resulting in the term Christmastide. Today, some Churches and especially corporate bodies are using the term “Yuletide” to refer to as Christmas.

Are you not concerned how corporate bodies are beginning to secularise Christmas? I am not threatened by them, I am just concerned that Christians are not fully being in control of what should be their best time of the year. Every firm and corporate bodies wishes people happy Christmas and they host parties, drinking competitions  and many bizarre stuffs but they never talk about Christ! When you remove Christ from the Christmas what you have is -mas. People aren’t really celebrating Christ.

The only time the church give for Jesus is two hours of Christmas service and the rest is for fun! I am not against celebration and fun! But, we must not fold our arms and do nothing, we need to educate people on what Christmas represents. The Church is marching on…

After all, Santa let’s you sit on his laps, he gives you something that will fade away… He doesn’t even give you a message of hope! But, Jesus let’s you sleep in His arms and He is your hope!

I am taking full control of my Christmas… Santa Claus is not welcomed to my home… Only Jesus is.
