THE INTEGRITY OF THE RIGHTEOUS

They are two kinds of Christians. They are the faithful ones and the unfaithful ones. What does it means to be a faithful Christian? It means to be a believer who isn’t just saved but who is working out their salvation. People often think that working out salvation means to earn our salvation by our own good works. Well, we don’t earn our salvation, we work out the fruits of our salvation. We don’t work to be saved, we work because we are saved. The work we do as believers is something that God already did in the inside of us the day we got born again. The Bible says “whoever is in Christ is a new creature, old things are passed away and all things are new”.

:

You see that? We became very new and very perfect the day we accepted and believed the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, as new creatures we are expected to live out that new stuff God has done in us! If indeed God has called us a holy nation, a chosen people and a peculiar race, we need to show it and we need to invite others to experience the change that comes with accepting Jesus. That is what it means to be faithful Christians… This includes a continuous and complete trust in God! The Bible says in Revelations 2:10

:

“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”

:

Being faithful involves sacrifices and perseverance! There is a tendency of losing friends, jobs and even opportunities! However, those sorrowful things we experience because of our integrity are not sent by God! They are sent by the devil because he wants to shake us off from being faithful! However, God wants us to use those trials as building materials! That is why we must keep rejoicing no matter what we face! The Bible says

:

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.” Proverbs 11:3

:

Our uprightness guides us even when things are very hard and terrible! But for the unfaithful ones, they are doomed in their unfaithfulness! Not because God wants them destroyed but because they are decieved by the progress they seem to have been making in their unfaithfulness and by that they never know when they fall into the pit!

:

Why would God want us to be faithful? People ask that question all the time especially when we tell them that they are saved not because of their faithfulness! Yes… That is very true! But then, by been faithful in your salvation, you are not giving the devil any opportunity to get at you and you are not using yourself to showcase the devil!

:

Jesus declared that we are the light of the world! That is to say, God wants the world to see through us! In order to make it possible, God decided to dwell in us in the person of the Holy Spirit and if we don’t work out (show forth) our salvation, we are limiting the Holy Spirit in us from shinning! That we are lights doesn’t mean the world is seeing! It is like beautiful and authentic bulbs that are switched off! Electricity is flowing in them but they are simply switch off. We must deliberately set ourselves on the hill and shine. Let’s see how Jesus presented it

:

“You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden. People don’t hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 ERV

:

What Jesus presented above clearly shows what God wants from us! God wants us to shine and He made us lights by coming to be in us and shine through us! But then, we can possibly restrain God from shinning through us by refusing to live out what we are! It’s like an English man refusing to speak English. People will find it difficult to learn English from him or even know he is an English man. Jesus already called us lights but clearly added that we are not just lights but we are made lights so that we can shine! Why do we need to shine? Jesus says it’s so that people will see the good things God is doing through us and praise His name! To shine simply means to display God’s goodness and that is simply what it means to be faithful as believers!

:

It’s one thing to get saved and it’s another to act as saved! Saved people don’t act like slaves, when they do, they are rubbishing their freedom! They are also ridiculing the name or the authority by which they got saved!

:

To be faithful doesn’t mean living a religious life! It doesn’t mean neglecting your body, wearing unfit clothes and doing all manner of religious stuffs. To be faithful means to keep trusting God and to keep walking in the light of God’s word! Ultimately, it means to walk in love with all men so that they can see Christ in us and praise God’s name.

:

Verse to ponder on: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love” 1 John 4:8
