Romeo and Juliet didn’t die for REAL love! They died because of their feelings! If that story is true, they wouldn’t have died if they were given another chance to decide! Why did I say so? Romeo and Juliet had a thing together, they admired each other and they treasured each other! They built a bond that was possible to be built with anyone else. But on a different case, Jesus didn’t die because we were in love with Him! He died because He loves us even when we never loved Him.

This implies that real love doesn’t relent even when the loved isn’t reciprocating that love. This is a huge lesson for every minister of the gospel! When people hate you, criticize you and spit at you… What is your reaction? Do you pray for fire to destroy them like Elijah did? Do you decide to ignore them and leave them at their fate? Or do you continue praying for their souls and reaching out to them no matter how they hate you?

When you help someone and they probably don’t reciprocate, what is your reaction? Do you suddenly vow never to help them again? Well, in the worldly sense you may choose never to help them again but in the sense of Christ which we have received as believers you have to ignore human’s irrationality and extend a hand! Real love is not you loving those who love you, it is loving those who hate you. This can be very hard when we are carnally minded but as long as we pay attention to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can always choose to love those who hate us or those who radically oppose us.

Love isn’t a feeling so you won’t expect the feeling of acceptance to quickly over shadow you when someone expresses hate for you… Even as a Christian it doesn’t work that way! Love is a choice, you choose to love and you start loving! Loving people simply means respecting them even when they aren’t respecting you! That’s doesn’t mean dancing to their tunes, it means placing value on them! You can always want to win them if you value them!

Majority hated Jesus even when He expressed so much goodness and love! Many hated Him even when blood was fishing out of His body! He was just hated and rejected but on the cross He said “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing”. Did you see that? Isn’t it amazing? Remember, Jesus operated as a man at that time… A perfect man of course!

Are you wondering if this is a sound Christian teaching? Well the Bible didn’t oppose it! The Bible says

“This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for each other as brothers and sisters.” – 1 Jn. 3:16 ERV

You see that? Jesus gave his life for us even when we never valued Him and if we should really act like Christ, we ought to love others to the highest extent too! Remember, there are so many love but there is only one real love!

God bless you!
