While Jesus did miracles, the crowd cheered him and some hated him the more because he was becoming too impossible for them. Many wanted to follow him because of those miracles he did, many saw him as one who could do whatever he wish or get whatever he desired! Yes, he was the talk of the town both in the lips of enemies and friends. While some argued that Jesus received powers from satan, others believed Jesus came from God. Whichever party anyone belonged to, they just couldn’t stop talking about Jesus. Jesus was the trend and if Twitter and Facebook were available in those days, Jesus would have the largest number of fans and followers.

One would literally think Jesus had no worries of his own! How can the miracle working Jesus who had people at his right and left side feel worried? No one cared about that anyway. His worries was as a result of the purpose of his coming! He was going to die for the sins of the world. Never forget, Jesus functioned on earth as a man and he literally felt the pains any man would feel! As a result of his worries;

“Jesus left the city and went to the Mount of Olives. His followers went with him. (He went there often.) He said to his followers, “Pray for strength against temptation.”  Then Jesus went about 50 steps away from them. He knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, please don’t make me drink from this cup. But do what you want, not what I want.” Then an angel from heaven came to help him.” – Lk. 22:39‭-‬43 ERV

Why did I start with this? Sometimes, we are lost in the voice of the crowd! While some are spewing hatred for us, others are campaigning their love and admiration for us. We get so busy defending ourselves from our haters or trying to impress people who loves us. These people never know we have needs, we have worries, we have things that bothers us. They keep coming to either attack us or be encouraged by us and they never have the slightest idea that we go through pains sometimes. What do we do at that point?

Looking at what Jesus modelled for us, we see he didn’t go about looking for people’s sympathy! He didn’t go about looking for people to complain to. He went to the mountain. Yes, he withdrew from the crowd, from their cheers, from their criticisms, from their complaints and other things that keeps him busy with them! He withdrew entirely to a place where he should be alone with God. The Bible said his disciples followed him but yet he left them at a spot and went farther away from them. He knelt down and poured himself out to God! He must have cried, he must have told God how he feel, he must have said everything he ever wanted to say to God and then he concluded with “let your will be done”. The Bible said an Angel came and helped him.

It is not out of place to depart from the crowd, especially when you have burdens that no one can carry, questions no one can answer, problems no one can solve and barriers no one can break! There are things only God can do! It is not out of place to cry out to God and express your feelings to Him in its entirety. But as you do that, it is always important to know that our tears doesn’t necessarily make things happen! Submitting to God’s will does. Jesus have wished the cup passes over him but he submitted to God’s will. Yes, he cried, he felt the pains and he poured out his emotions to God but he still submitted to God’s will.

Sometimes it good to withdraw from the activities of this life and have a time alone with God on the mountain. This time, your room can be that mountain! It can even be your toilet. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a mounain top or bush! Just find a place where no one can distract you, switch off from this world and switch on to the higher realm. It can be for minutes, hours or even days! Just wait on the Lord.

Jesus did this and help came… What is that you’re worried about? Perhaps you’ve come to that point where you wish that cup will pass over you? I have a good news for you. You can’t spend time alone with God and never receive help. Pour out yourself to God but still trust God’s will and relax… Help is on the way!

God bless you.
