MY OPEN RESPONSE

MY OPEN RESPONSE
:
This is my response to the article that says “Difference between old time church service
and modern time church service.”
:
I may sound different but I think most of the things pointed out in those articles are just another trick to distract us. I even doubt if the person who wrote that article is born again because I didn’t see anything about Christianity in that article. I will clearly note out all the points raised in that article and carefully show us why such points shouldn’t be taken serious.
:
POINT ONE
When the choristers of the old time finish singing, the congregation burst into tears because they sang down the glory, but in the modern, after the Delilahs and Jezebels finish singing, the congregation respond with a clap offering returning Ichabod to Ichabod. In the old, during message, the congregations cry and tell God that they are sorry, but today, as message is going on people drop money, blow whistle and shout “ride on pastor”.

My Response

Calling believers ‘Delilahs’ and ‘Jezebels’ is a big insult to God! On what basis do you judge them as such? Is it because they wear makeup and look fashionable? I guess that is the only basis because I have heard people say it often time. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not to make us feel sorry but to build our faith in the knowledge of God’s word. Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” We do not sing down God’s glory, we sing of God’s glory! Worship isn’t about the songs we sing in Church, it is about the entire thing we do all our life! We sing because of God’s glory and not to bring it down! We cannot sing down God’s glory! His glory is here… The more you grow in faith, the more you understand it!
:
POINT TWO
The old went to Church and the message gave them faith but the modern went to church and the message gave them fake (Olive oil, handkerchief, apron, sticker, holy water, and calendars of their G. O.) The ancient carried their bible in booklet because they were not ashamed of Jesus but some today carry ipad to church because they feel shy to be identified with Jesus and to such, Jesus will be ashamed of you on the last day.

My Response

In Act 19:12, the Bible says “so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.” The bible didn’t say people were mistakenly healed because they touched Paul’s handkerchief and aprons but it was deliberately taken to the sick and it healed them. While I don’t personally ask people to touch my handkerchief or apron to get healed, it doesn’t write off the fact that people who are yet to grow in faith can actually experience miracles through mantles! What am I saying? I am not supporting the merchandise that people have made out of it and I am neither saying God cannot use anything the way He wishes to use it! Peter’s shadow healed the sick; Paul’s materials did the same! Sometimes, certain people want to hold on to something just to support their faith! That is exactly what happened here. The woman with the issue of blood believed that if she touches the garment of Jesus, she will be made whole but another believed that at the word of Jesus, his daughter will be made whole! It all worked for each of them according to their faith in Jesus!

How about carrying the Bible in iPads? For me, it’s even better! Although certain people allow iPad to distract them during service, I have also been distracted by my paper Bible most times. Sometimes while the sermon is going on, I am reading something else in the Bible and my mind is not in the message anymore! Who even said that carrying bible shows allegiance to Jesus? The old fathers of faith didn’t carry bible, the Apostles didn’t carry bible either! I am not writing off the carrying of the Bible to Church, I am only saying that we shouldn’t judge between iPad and Paper! All are both results of technologies and has nothing to do with who loves God and who doesn’t.
:
I don’t and will not believe that carrying bible in booklets is a sign of revival or a sign of showing love and respect for God. Living in love is the sure way to show that we truly love God because He first loved us! (Mark 12:30-31)
:
POINT THREE
The old go to church with their hair covered with their head ties but the modern cover their hair with Brazilian weave-on. During prayers, the ancient close their eyes and give God their whole attention but the modern open their eyes, looking around like armed robbers and even answer calls during prayers.
:
My Response

That people went to Church gatherings with their heads covered with head ties doesn’t make it any better than Brazillian hair covering! We shouldn’t demean our faith by bringing up these things. Christianity is not about covering the hair. Paul didn’t even ask his audience to cover their head with head ties but with veils. Paul was responding to them according to their tradition. I wouldn’t go into explaining this! Get my book “DEDICATED TO WOMEN” and see the explanations.

Who said it is in the closing or opening of eyes that we get ourselves fixed to God? No! Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 that a man’s heart is where his treasure is. If you truly love God, it is not about closing or opening your eyes, your heart and mind will be fixed on him.
:
POINT FOUR
The old dance godly dance to thanksgiving and offering but the modern is not even afraid to dance doro, awilo and azonto even before the altar. The ancients go to church with their body covered and are focused on inner beauty but the modern wears mini skirt, show everything, and everything on her is artificial and ends up looking like “mamiwota” (water spirit). They are prone to falling at the slightest prayer because all she is putting on has a demon attached to it.

My Response

What is godly dance? Was there any dance pattern in the scriptures as godly dance? Any kind of dance danced with God in view is godly dance… Go to clubs and brothels… They also dance slow and soft music too! There is always jubilation in heaven when one gets born again! This means there is also party in heaven! (Luke 15:10) David danced till his clothes were off! Only God knows how crazy it was but hold on… David was dancing to God’s glory (2 Samuel 6:14)
And who told us that those who fall under anointing are possessed with demons? Who even told us that one must fall under the anointing? I am yet to get a clue from the scriptures concerning that! How did we get to know what water spirit looks like? How did we even get to discover those water spirits? I see how superstition has eaten deep into many so called Christians who don’t study the word of God to show themselves approved.
:
POINT FOUR
In the old, sinners go home weeping but today sinners go home rejoicing. The ancients answer altar calls with tears rolling down their faces. The modern do the same chewing gum. O Lord, revive your work. May revival precede the rapture!

My Response

This is the one I even found much funnier! In fact, this one made me write all these things!
You also have a problem with sinners coming to Church and going home rejoicing? Why should they go home crying when they have received the most amazing good news that is so good to be true? God and Angels are rejoicing with them too! The Samaritan woman heard from Jesus and she didn’t go about crying, she went about declaring Jesus!
What will someone whose sins have been forgiven do? What will you do when someone come to clear all your debts? Will you go home crying? I guess you’re getting my point right now!

Revival is not something new that God will do just to prevent us from going to hell! We are saved already if we believe and become born again. Revival isn’t a new work of the Holy Spirit but our readiness to continue being led by the Spirit. Fire will not fall down from heaven the second time… God has given us everything we need and when we start making use of them with so much passion… That is revival! Don’t sit back at home waiting for something to lift you up and force you to preach the gospel all in the name of revival!
:
The Church is marching on! The gates of hell cannot prevail against the Church, not even with human philosophy! There is actually no new Christianity… It is still that same Christianity that has always been!
