“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23

You do not guard your heart by just trying to look away from two people making out at the public, the lady in a mini skirt and all of that! You ultimately guard your heart by changing its defaults! How? By seeing only Jesus!

The Bible says that God is too Holy to behold evil, the Bible also said that God didn’t find iniquity in Jacob! (Numbers 23:21) Jacob? That cunning guy? What happened? God simply decided not to see evil! Good sees differently. God decided not to see evil even while He was watching! He also didn’t see the perverseness of Israel… Oh my! Every other person saw it but This didn’t! Now I see why the devil accuses the brethren, it is because God has no time to see what the devil is seeing!

Look at Abraham, he lied but was blessed for lying! Why didn’t God reprimand him for lying? (Genesis 20:2-17) He chose what to behold! God doesn’t see iniquity, not because He can’t see it but because He don’t behold it! We were not saved from iniquity because of what God sees, we were saved so that we can see like God!

How does the new creature guard his heart? Anyone can decide to look away from the things they don’t want to see but only the new creature can decide to see the way Jesus sees! It begins by renewing the mind with God’s word! When your heart is full of God’s word, you see differently and you act differently! The Bible says that the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart, this means that a man whose heart is full of God’s word will only speak the word and see nothing but the word. (Luke 6:45)

For instance, when you see believers who are always suspicious of two young Christians who are dating, that is probably because they have not renewed their minds, they may think it’s not possible for believers to be together and not sin. They have a way of suspecting just everyone! In everything they see, they may likely see sin because their heart is not guarded!

This also applies to our careers and relationships! Men were asked to love their wives like Christ loves the Church, how? Jesus saw us differently, even when it seemed we never wanted him, he wanted us! He took our place and saw us as people worthy to die for! A husband must see like Jesus if he wants to succeed as a husband. If you see like Jesus, you won’t enter a relationship thinking that all men are the same or that all women are the same because your heart had been guarded against negativities! I told a friend saying “since God’s grace was revealed to me, my perception has changed to a point that I don’t see things the way ordinary people see it… I can just marry and be with anyone in all her flaws because something inside of me has changed so much that I see differently!” You can also engage yourself in that career without fear of failure because your heart content has been changed causing you to have a different approach to life!

The Bible asks us to put our mind only on wonderful things… In Colossians 3:1-5, we see Paul talking about these things! He wrote “Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.”

I love it… Our mind should be where Christ is and just like Jesus we will start seeing differently and start acting differently too. We see Jesus!
