THE ART OF MUSIC | POWER OF SONGS

:
I had stayed awake all night working on a project and before the sunrise I decided to take a musical break and have some devotional time. Well, same morning tears rolled and I danced..
:
The power of any music is in the words of that music and the captivate force of its rhythm. Songs have so much power that it can follow you into your dreams… Any song playing around me plays in my dreams too and sometimes they play vital role in what I do in my dreams.
:
One morning I was having a dream, I am sure I had that dream in the morning because I had overslept! I was worshiping God in songs, my heart was feeling an intimacy I had never felt before. Emotional orgasm (forgive my words) was taken place and I was just lost in worship, tears were irresistible and no one could stop me… I was hearing a song “I see Grace” by New Creation Church, a Church that Jospeh Prince pastors. This song had filled the atmosphere, I didn’t know where it was coming from but it did got me and pinned me to a point I thought of nothing else but Jesus!
:
Then I woke up! It was a dream and the song was playing from my little phone! I never knew I had that song, I had about 3000 gospel songs then and had put my playlist on shuffle before sleeping off! I remember I slept off praying in the spirit. This isn’t the first time a song had followed me into dreams, most times I happens as long as a song was playing as I slept.
:
Rhythms are powerful! Sometimes it controls your soul and make it respond without hesitation. It may get you dancing, it may get you meditating, it may soften you, leave you broken and open to the Spirit… That is just what rhythm does! It gets your heart ready and open for something else, it is not the end or the main thing in itself but it makes you open to the main thing, it attracts your soul. However, the words that accompany those rhythms is the power of the music itself. Sing a nice lyrics with very bad rhythm, the power of those words will be crippled in that very situation.
:
Negative or Positive words, they are the power of any song and when we give in to them, they start making us respond to them. Check a Christian who is given to songs that don’t speak of the love of Jesus, maybe songs that always speaks of women, money and carnal things, they start going down gradually, it begins to affect their prayer life, it begins to affect their love for God as it starts getting cold!
:
Words in rhythms gets straight to the soul and the mind to respond to it. I listen to certain songs I cry and I listen to certain songs saying the same thing the other had said, I dance. I may cry because God’s love was communicated in a rhythm that gets those tears of joy and repentance out of me… Sometimes I cry saying “God, can I ever love you like you love me? Lord, I just want to love you more!” and another song with same theme could get me dance in excitement and rejoicing and I could be saying “God loves me so much, that is something to dance and shout about!” Rhythms seems to set my mood and attitude with which I receive the words in a song. You could cry in thanksgiving or dance in thanksgiving!
:
Sometimes when I hear rhythms that makes me open, I know my soul is open and vulnerable… I get it filled up immediately by following up the rhythms with words of God’s love.Sometimes I don’t even need external influence to get these rhythms, I hear them inside of me… When am alone, I could cry at times, I could pick up my phone and start recording a song. Anyone listening may not understand what is going on, they may think I am rehearsing a song not knowing I am putting words into rhythms playing in my heart!
:
The three singles I had released namely; Na Only You, Lifted Hands and I Believe all came this way! I had recorded them without writing it down, I only wrote them while in the studio. I wrote Lifted Hands while in the studio but I had already recorded it in my voice recorder some months ago, the same goes for Lifted Hands… Those songs never came because I wanted to do a song but because something was happening to my emotions. You could find more than a hundred voice records of different songs I had voiced this way in my recorder… In all cases, no producer has been able to even produce the exact rhythms playing in my heart at times, nothing has been near it and I am ain’t planning to become a producer anyway but I am hoping to learn an instrument I could use to express it at times.
:
Are you a musician? You have the soul of many in control with what you put up out there! David could calm Saul with his music, The Trumpeters got Israel into magnifying God in the war front that they stopped seeing defeat and started seeing victory… Eventually the wall of Jericho felled! What if they had no musician? What if all there musicians were busy satisfying their pockets with what appeals to the fallen nature of man?
:
As I am typing this I have a line up of Hillsongs, BLW Music ministers and so many other soul lifting songs… Lifting my soul to the praise of God with its rhythms and filling my mind with words of God’s love.
:
SONGS have power…
Let us do it better!
