“For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience…” – Romans 11:29-30
Gifts are not borrowed items, rents or lease. Gifts are like free will donations, it is the transfer of something by the rightful owner to another person who gains ownership of the same without any compensation. Sometimes, we receive gifts from people because we were good to them or because we did one thing or another but God’s gift is different. God didn’t set a high standard for His gift and this gift isn’t about talents which everyone possesses, it is something more than that. God’s standard for this gift is “whosoever believes” (John 3:16), it is a gift of life which God gives freely to those who believe. Get this:
1. Gifts and calls are irrevocable.
2. God doesn’t withdraw His offer of salvation.
3. We have received mercy.
The above verse talks about God’s gifts and these gifts are God’s salvation offered to man through Jesus. Many times we wonder if we would get lost and have God withdraw His gift of life. Many times we are overtaken by the fear of the second coming and rapture, we feel we may not be good enough to live with Christ forever and because of fear we undermine the truth of God’s word and overlook the nature of God. It is not in God’s nature to give us gifts and take it back. We are the only ones who may be able to reject God’s gift by unbelief. The gift of God is summarized in one word; mercy. No wonder we come to the throne of grace with boldness because He has given us mercy and it is our right in Christ Jesus.
POINT TO NOTE
We have been gifted with God’s exact life and therefore we live in His mercy. We have also been called according to His name and these things can’t be revoked. To revoke it means that Christ has to “un-die” which isn’t possible. God settled the problem He had with man through Christ and Christ is the bridge of humanity and divinity. We can now be confident in God’s love knowing that we are secure in Him. The Bible says nothing can separate us from God!
“I walk constantly in the mercies of God. I am saved and I am called by His name, therefore I enjoy God’s irrevocable gifts!”
Thank you, precious Lord, for uniting me with you forever. If it had to be my strength, I wouldn’t have been standing in your presence. But here I am, standing in your presence because you made a way. I am forever committed to you.
