ARMS TWISTING | Anything for giving in Church?

“Baby Christians of today are different from baby Christians of yesterday”

You may not like this. Nonetheless, read with an open heart and also discern that we can’t always hold the same viewpoint in everything. I also can’t always say what will please you every time.

If Church needs money for AC, let’s be plain and sincere about it. If Church wants to buy Pastor a new car, let’s be sincere about it. If Church wants to build a new house for the Man of God, let’s be sincere! Man of God deserves it, other junior Pastors and ministers who labour in the Church deserve it too oooo!

Which one is “give to God your tithe or else your heavens will be tight”, which one is “sow a seed of divine protection for ember month?” Which one is “pay your first fruit so that other parts will be holy?” Which one is “shake me with a seed and take your blessings for the next level?”

Can we just stop lying and twisting the scriptures? Can we just stop worshipping our bellies?

The early believers sold everything they had and brought it to the feet of the Apostles. Yet, they weren’t told all the things we are being told today. Why are we not bothered by all this mess? Why is it only the money-making part of the Old Testament that still makes sense to even “Grace” preachers? Are we scared that brethren won’t give us money if we don’t lie?

Tell brethren why you believe and teach that they should tithe, tell them why you believe they should sow a seed and give first fruit. Have you got any sound teaching on this? Let’s hear you!

We’ll talk about tithing again someday and we’ll shed light on how the Bible instructed tithing, who receives it and what happens with it.

Of course, we are in the information age, you can’t keep lying to people, they know so much now, they can verify testimonies easier and they have access to more resources; making Bible study a lot easier. The baby Christians of today are more exposed than the baby Christians of yesterday, they are different from the Baby Christians of yesterday. It’s not every lie that will move them!

Can you compare the babies of yesterday to the babies of today? Kids today are smarter, they reason and do things better than us when we were kids. The reason is simple; they are exposed to lots of information and tools that we never had as kids. This is how baby Christians of today are, they may be ignorant of sound doctrine to some extent but they are no dumb anyway. They are intelligent babies.

Heaven didn’t close on China. It didn’t close on Elon Musk, it didn’t close on Dangote, they didn’t tithe, they didn’t sow seeds of divine protection, they didn’t pay first fruits, it won’t close on you! Spare me the narrative on your mind, they paid nothing… Maybe, they paid tax!

We give because we are members of the Assembly and have a responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the Church. We give to those who labour in the word to teach and groom us because we want them to focus on teaching us the word rather than have divided attention. Anyone who spends all his time studying and teaching you deserves to be compensated.

The welfare of other believers who are needy and the maintenance or acquiring of Church facilities are also our responsibility. But how we go about raising these funds isn’t by lying!

The rules haven’t changed and any giving that doesn’t mirror the rules doesn’t please God. The rule is simple, the rule is this:

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT

Of course, mischievous and false teachers will always want to exploit believers. Here is what Peter wrote about them:

“In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.” 2 Peter 2:3 NLT

Peter continues

They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.” 2 Peter 2:14 NLT

Some of these false teachers are thought to have begun well but they couldn’t stay on the right path long enough because they don’t truly honour God.

They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn money by doing wrong.” 2 Peter 2:15 NLT

Those who honour material things above God’s word simply make God’s word the means through which they can twist arms. They abuse God’s word, they also abuse their office as leaders of ministries.

One thing is certain, when our theology is centred only around Christ, it sheds light on every shady part, it brings clarity, change our entire perception of the Bible, change our entire worldview and bring us to that place of learning and growing and in the knowledge of God.

I call you blessed.
