The Gospel is God’s power of salvation at work in the world. What is the gospel? It is the good news about Christ that is so good to be true. But what is this good news about?
It tells us how God makes us right in his sight. God has taken up the responsibility of making us right with him, not by our efforts but by his mercies and grace. In Romans 1:16, Paul echoes this truth saying;
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16 KJV
We must know that the only gospel that saves is the gospel of Christ. It’s only through Christ Jesus that we are saved and this is pretty simple. The moment you believe that God sent Jesus Christ, to save you from sin and judgment, you have been saved! That’s more than enough.
Salvation here simply means being in right standing with God. God knew that we couldn’t help ourselves, he knew that we had no clue what to do! Religion is the result of man’s search for God and his favour. But God brought this search to an end by making a way. This is why Jesus said:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6 KJV
Jesus is the only way to the Father, he is the truth about the Father and he is the life that the father gives. There are no other means to be in right standing with God but by Christ Jesus. When Jesus says “but by me”, it also means that it is by what he came to do, to pay the ultimate price and reconcile man to God. Paul wrote further:
“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:17 KJV
The revelation and keying into this are done by faith and nothing more. From the very start to the finish, it is by faith in Christ Jesus. This is why the just shall live by faith.
God has made you right with himself, he has bridged the gap and brought an end to the struggles. Many are still struggling because they do not know and others are struggling because they do not believe. In Christ Jesus, we put an end to all the years of searching for the answers, years of trying to please the universe, our ancestors, and whatever we seem to hold sacred. In Christ, we are set free from not just sin but the rules made out of sin.
In Christ, our worldview becomes refined, we learn how to live at peace with all men, and we learn how to honour others and see the best of them. In Christ Jesus, our ego is broken as we realize that we are not better than others. In Christ Jesus, we become empowered to love and live for God.
Are you still in a struggle to please God? Are you still troubled within yourself because of guilt? Do you have a terrible past that seems to be living rent-free in your conscience? In Christ Jesus, God is offering you peace and a way out of all the struggles.
I call you blessed.
